The Senior Men's section at Brechin Golf Club was established in 1988 - 1989 when club member Les Skelton, a prominent member since the 1950's (and a subsequent Honourary Member) put wheels in motion to allow retired members to play in a more structured way, both in weekly competitions at Brechin and at home and away against local clubs, thereby promoting the club to a wider audience.

By 2009 the Senior's section had grown to 40 members competing weekly for various trophies, participating in the Alliance League, and playing friendly matches against other clubs.

Fast forward to 2026, where the Senior's section have 76 members, with 50 + playing on a regular basis. The season extends to 52 weeks in the year, weather dependent. There is also a knock out competition which runs during the summer, an Away Day at a different club, and at the end of the season a Christmas lunch which incorporates the prize giving. During the season and at the prize giving we collect donations from the members to give to local charities.

The only criteria for membership of the Senior's section is that you have to be a member of Brechin Golf Club, over 55, and a willingness to participate in the social interaction when playing golf.

Overall, Brechin Golf Club is a great place to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy a game in a friendly welcoming setting. Membership brings with ita free membership to the Gym and Fitness Suite. Additional benefits of membership can be found here (link to follow).
